Most typing test websites were built in the era of the 60-second WPM benchmark. They measure one number, show it on a leaderboard, and stop there. That model ignores everything that actually matters about typing: raw WPM, accuracy, consistency over time, weakness patterns, and the specific challenges of typing real code.
RaccoonType was built to close that gap. The typing test is the entry point, not the product. Around it sits a competitive platform — ranked ELO, party races, tournaments, boss trials, daily challenges, clan wars — and a coaching layer — an 8-category Typing DNA analysis with AI-generated personalized drills. Each piece is a tool for the same goal: measurable, sustainable improvement in typing performance.

RaccoonType's AI Coach produces personalized custom drills from your own session history. It doesn't generate fake scores, inflate metrics, or promise overnight improvement. The coaching is grounded in the deterministic 8-category Typing DNA model — the AI just personalizes the targets.
Your typing data is yours. We don't sell session telemetry to third parties, we don't require an account to take a test, and you can use RaccoonType as a guest. Sign-in is opt-in for sync, leaderboards, and AI drill generation.

RaccoonType is built by a small team of typists, competitive gamers, and software engineers. The product is opinionated: the team uses RaccoonType daily to measure and improve their own typing.
Yes. The typing test, multiplayer races, ranked ladder, daily challenge, and AI Coach are all free to use. You can optionally sign in to sync progress across devices, earn seasonal XP, and join clans.
RaccoonType does not sell session telemetry to third parties. AI Coach drill generation uses an LLM provider only for signed-in users who opt in to custom drill requests; the audio analysis happens locally in your browser using the Web Audio API. See the Privacy page for details.
